REGION 16 of the AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING
ALASKA, COLUMBIA RIVER, LEWIS & CLARK, PACIFIC NORTHWEST SECTIONS
Message from the Chairman
Welcome everyone to an
exciting new year of the Pacific Northwest ASNT
Section. Thank you to all the Board Members
that gave me the opportunity to be Chairman of
this section. I also want to extend a special thank
you to last year’s Chairman – Kathy Ferguson for
the preparations and mentorship that allowed
me to smoothly transition into the new year.
We have a big challenge ahead of us as a section.
With incredibly busy schedules and long hours on
the job, we need to support the local section and
new officers. This support includes arranging for a program schedule that will
interest those members we haven’t seen at section meetings for one reason
or another. The program also needs to be interesting for students. Revival of
a “Stump the Experts” style meeting between Clover Park Technical College in
Lakewood, WA and Linn-Benton Community College in Oregon goes a long
way in providing the NDT students of these colleges a forum to learn more
about NDT and interaction with peers and instructors. Providing training
courses to potential new NDT personnel and increasing ASNT membership for
the local section are two goals for my term. We will be having some
interesting topics and speakers at our local monthly meetings this coming
year. Please keep our website, www.asntpnws.com in your browser favorites
to see who these speakers will be and updates to location and times of
meetings. As we work our way through the challenges of our jobs, keep your
eyes open for potential speakers and/or topics for section meetings. Please
notify our section Vice Chair of any
potential meeting topics/speakers.
Sincerely,
Chris Maraschky
Pacific Northwest Section
2019-2020 Chair
